AMBUSH delves back into Nike’s archive to pull out another ‘90s basketball icon. Designer and owner of the label Yoon Ahn has not shied away from the Swoosh’s most popular silhouettes, spinning her story across icons like the Dunk High and Air Force 1 Low. Once again, her unapologetic approach has meant that for the first time ever, the Wilson Smith-designed Air More Uptempo is now available in a Low-cut version. If you’ve enjoyed the previous projects, then this AMBUSH x Nike Air More Uptempo Low “Limestone” offers similar energy.Considering the silhouette has seen the chopping block on a number of occasions, such as on Supreme’s 2017 edition, the Serena Williams Design Crew “Denim” iteration, or even the recent Slide version, the new Ambush tooling should really come as no surprise. Although Yoon has already dipped her toe into the ‘90s era of basketball design with three hot takes on the Air Adjust Force in ’22, the model’s underground status left fans hesitant. Now with the Uptempo’s status and rise to the top during 2018-19, this latest collaboration from AMBUSH and Nike could fly off the shelves.Similar to the “OG Black White” colourway, the outsole comes draped in a matte black, allowing the upper to take centre stage. The pair arrives in a muted beige suede, with the shrunken down “AIR” panelling in a deep yellow. Although the iconic lettering has been downsized, the opposite has been done with a set of beefed-up rope laces, complementing the chunky aesthetic. A Swoosh on the vamp and heel bookends the upper, with an AMBUSH wordmark debossed onto the tongue, followed by a large print version on the sock liner.The AMBUSH x Nike Air More Uptempo Low “Limestone” will be available from the Nike SNKRS app and select retailers on August 4th. These will also be dropping alongside a collaborative Jersey and Football, both of which are featured within the “Nite Sport” promotional video campaign.
